THE REGISTER In the past, teachers used to call the register at the start of the school day. Today attendance is checked more informally, but that means that children are expected to attend school. PREFECTS In some schools, older students are given some authority4 to help control younger pupils outside , classes. They are called 'prefects' and they wear prefect's badges.
